YOUTH INTERN – ND LGBTQIA2S+ SUMMIT 2026

 

The ND LGBTQIA2S+ Summit Planning Team is seeking a Youth Intern to assist with planning and running the annual Summit, October 9-11, 2026. 

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The Youth Intern position includes the below expectations and responsibilities:

  • Attend and contribute to Summit Planning Committee meetings (4th Tuesday of every month at 7:00PM CST)

  • Participate in the Summit Programming sub-committee, serving as the Youth Programming lead to develop youth-focused sessions and activities

  • Organize and coordinate youth panel presentation and social event

  • Raise awareness of the Summit in youth spaces 

  • Actively engage with Summit Planning team and supervisor and provide feedback about youth perspectives, planning process, and communicate concerns

  • Attend the Summit in Fargo, ND, October 9-11, 2026, and any post-event wrap-up meetings

  • Responsibilities may be added or adjusted to fit the skills and interests of the Youth Intern

 

COMPENSATION

This is a part-time paid internship with an anticipated 2-5 hours per week of work over months leading up to the event, and about 40 hours of work at the event itself. The Youth Intern’s travel and lodging costs will be covered for any in-person work.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

 This internship is open to North Dakota residents between the ages of 16 through 24 only.

 

An ideal candidate would have:

  • Dedication to advancing the rights of and protections for LGBTQIA2S+ youth in North Dakota

  • Connections with and/or familiarity with the issues facing LGBTQIA2S+ youth in North Dakota, including racial and economic justice

  • Desire to build community organizing, event coordination, public speaking, and outreach skills

The ND LGBTQIA2S+ Summit is an organization that is fiscally sponsored by the North Dakota Human Rights Coalition (NDHRC). The NDHRC is a statewide, membership-based organization established to increase the visibility of human rights needs and violations and to change laws and attitudes that stand as barriers to residents within North Dakota who do not currently enjoy their full rights. North Dakota Human Rights Coalition is a registered 501(c)(3) organization.
