Kristin Nelson

Kristin Nelson is the founder of Project RAI (Rainbows are Inclusive). She lives in Fargo with her husband Nick, daughter Alex, and 2 rescue dogs. Kristin just graduated from the University of Jamestown with a master's degree in non-profit leadership. 


Kristin spent much of her professional career working in early childhood education which was the inspiration for the development of Project RAI. Kristin wanted to educate adults on developmentally appropriate practice and gender-affirming care in early childhood settings and how to welcome all learners to the classroom.


Kristin has given presentations to non-profit organizations on how to provide welcoming environments, has advocated to the state legislature for trans and queer rights, and has written a column for MSNBC on Doug Burgum.

The ND LGBTQIA2S+ Summit is an organization that is fiscally sponsored by the North Dakota Human Rights Coalition (NDHRC). The NDHRC is a statewide, membership-based organization established to increase the visibility of human rights needs and violations and to change laws and attitudes that stand as barriers to residents within North Dakota who do not currently enjoy their full rights. North Dakota Human Rights Coalition is a registered 501(c)(3) organization.
